Al Boy – Traditional Tattoo Artist
“I got my first tattoo done here by Al Boy when I was in London about two weeks ago. He was super nice and made me feel relaxed and comfortable, and did a gorgeous job on my tattoo. I couldn’t be happier with it, he truly made it look better than I could have imagined it. Thank you! :)” ~Dara Epstein
Al became addicted to tattooing the moment he tried it. The year was 2010, in his home town, Como, Italy. He picked up several tricks of the trade from different tattoo artists but one made a significant impact on his life, his mentor, Stizzo. This man taught him most of what he knows and is also responsible for Al’s favourite tattoos on himself.
Al loves Traditional tattoos as he believes they create the most impact. His tattooing style is best described as traditional and romantic yet eccentric. He looks to the Renaissance for artistic inspiration and traditional American tattoo flash as a base. His style is influenced by artists such as Da Vinci, Rafaelo, Perugino, Hieronimus, Bosh, Daci and Caravaggio, to name a few.
Al looks at the tattoo world to be incredibly similar to the Graffiti scene, where he is from. For Al, the industry keeps him on his toes and provides some healthy competition. He sees tattooing as a creative career, where he gets to use a graphic technique everyday instead of just sitting in an office cubicle for eight hours.
Cloak and Dagger allows him to hang out with his friends and do something he loves. He is passionate with what he does and continues to have a positive outlook in life. He takes to heart his grandfather’s advice: “Always do the thing that you like and never do what doesn’t make you happy.”
