Frequently Asked Questions

We use the PicoWay® laser system, which represents a significant advancement over traditional tattoo removal technology. Whilst older Q-switched lasers (including Nd:YAG, ruby, and alexandrite varieties) rely on heat-based methods, PicoWay® employs picosecond technology delivering ultra-short pulses. The PicoWay® operates at three different wavelengths to target specific ink colors: 785nm for green and blue ink, 532nm for red, orange, and yellow shades, and 1064nm for black, brown, purple, and other dark colors. This versatile approach allows us to remove any color tattoo effectively.

Thanks to PicoWay® technology, scarring is an exceptionally rare side effect of laser tattoo removal. We pay meticulous attention to proper laser protocols and employ well-trained technicians who follow strict procedures. Additionally, comprehensive aftercare significantly reduces the risk of scarring even further. The photoacoustic approach used by PicoWay®—as opposed to heat-based methods—means the surrounding tissue remains undamaged during treatment, making scarring highly unlikely.

Laser tattoo removal has become the gold standard for removing tattoos because of its safety profile, effectiveness, and ability to treat various ink colors. It has largely replaced older approaches like excision, dermabrasion, and salabrasion. Key advantages include: lasers selectively target pigment without harming surrounding skin, reducing scarring risk; they remove or fade tattoos more effectively by breaking ink into particles your immune system can eliminate; they treat a wide range of ink colors, including previously difficult shades like greens and yellows; the procedure is less invasive than methods requiring skin removal; and laser treatment typically results in little to no scarring, unlike other removal methods.

With our PicoWay® laser technology, side effects are significantly minimized because we use photoacoustic waves rather than heat, unlike most other laser tattoo methods. However, there are typically temporary, short-term effects such as crusting, swelling, rash, and blistering, which are usually limited to the skin affected by the laser. These effects are normal and temporary, resolving as your skin heals between sessions. The PicoWay® laser has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for tattoo removal and is considered both safe and effective.
